The Gateway Ascent

4,590 m

We begin leaving the lush valleys of Manali behind, passing through the engineering marvel of the Atal Tunnel. As the landscape shifts to a rugged, high-altitude desert, we stop at the legendary Batal to enjoy a warm meal of Rajma Chawal at the iconic Chacha Chachi Dhaba.

After lunch, the real adventure begins as our experienced drivers navigate the raw, unpaved off-road tracks of the Kunzum Pass. At 15,000 feet, this challenging terrain offers a thrilling and bumpy off-roading experience right from the passenger seat, setting the tone for the journey before we descend into Kaza to rest & recharge for the next day.

Legends of Mud & Stone

3,050 m

We chauffeur you first to the dramatic Dhankar Monastery, a 1,000-year-old structure that hangs precariously on a crumbling limestone cliff, offering sweeping views of the Spiti River confluence.

From here, we guide you on a short, high-altitude trek up to the tranquil waters of Dhankar Lake, a pristine spot perfectly reflecting the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Our 4×4s then take you to Tabo, home to a millennium-old mud monastery often called the "Ajanta of the Himalayas" for its exquisitely preserved ancient murals and stucco sculptures.

You will settle into a cozy stay in Tabo or a nearby village to soak in the deep quiet of the valley.

The Roof of the World

4,513 m

After returning to Kaza for some relaxed local sightseeing, we drive you up to the highest inhabited regions on Earth. The journey takes us to Hikkim, where you can mail a postcard from the planet's highest post office, a tiny mud-brick building serving the remote region.

Next, we bring you to Langza to stand beneath the massive, colorful Buddha statue that watches over a valley famous for its prehistoric marine fossils. We wrap up the day navigating the extreme, wind-swept terrain of Komic, one of the world's highest motorable villages, before returning to our comfortable base in Kaza.

Monasteries & Gorges

4,079 m

Our convoy climbs the steep, winding mountain ridges to reach the iconic Key Monastery. While often mistaken for a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its breathtaking, maze-like architecture, this magnificent 11th-century fortress is a spiritual training center housing hundreds of monks and priceless Thangka paintings.

From there, we take you through Kibber, a picturesque high-altitude village serving as a prime sanctuary for spotting elusive snow leopards and sure-footed Himalayan Ibex. We then cross the dizzying Chicham Bridge, suspended over a breathtakingly deep gorge, before rolling into the quiet, starlit village of Losar for the night.

The Moon Lake & Return

4,250 m

Departing from Losar, our vehicles navigate the rugged trails leading toward the magnificent Chandratal Lake. Known as the "Moon Lake" for its distinct crescent shape, this 4,250-meter-high lake holds deep spiritual significance, believed to be the sacred spot where Indra descended to take Yudhishtira to heaven in his mortal form.

We guide you on a short walk from the parking area to the lake, where you can sit by the shifting turquoise waters. After taking in the absolute serenity, our drivers navigate back over the mountain passes, descending smoothly into Manali to wrap up the journey.
